Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory, co-founder behind Atlanta’s Black Mafia Family, has been moved from his prison cell and reportedly transferred to a halfway house where he will serve the rest of his sentencing.
The larger-than-life kingpin, who spent the last two decades in prison, was removed from the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Coleman Low and is scheduled to be released on January 27, 2026 according to Bureau of Prisons records.
“He used his time in prison to focus on personal growth and transformation,” Flenory’s attorney, Brittany K. Barnett, told TMZ. “Now he has an opportunity to begin a new chapter.”
In 2008, Flenory was sentenced to 30 years in prison on charges of drug trafficking and money laundering. It was estimated that the Black Mafia Family organization had made more than $270 million in profits from cocaine.
Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson turned the Black Mafia Family story into a successful drama on STARZ network, starring Flenroy’s real-life son, Demetrius Flenroy, Jr. Although things remain in a good place, 50 and BMF co-founder Terry “Southwest Tee” Flenory didn’t see eye-to-eye after his son was seen hanging out with the son of Kenneth “Supreme” McGriff. There is no love lost between Jackson and McGriff.
Flenory’s impact on culture has been substantial as he’s been obsessively referenced, most famously on Rick Ross’ song “B.M.F. Blowin’ Money Fast”. Other rappers, including Bun.B, Slim Thug, and Sexy Redd have shown their love on social media welcoming home Flenory.
