Chris Rock Is Back Saturday Night and He WILL Talk About That

The rare live Netflix special is called 'Selective Outrage'. Get your popcorn ready.

It's been almost a year since the infamous Oscar-night slap heard 'round the world and the world has been waiting for Chris Rock to talk about it at length.

That moment is here. Saturday, on Netflix, the comedian will presumably unload in a live special called Selective Outrage. Unlike his previous comedy specials, this will air live from Baltimore and will be sandwiched between pre- and post-show specials because of course Netflix is going to juice this thing for all its worth. It's Chris Rock’s first Netflix special since 2018's Tamborine.

What can you expect? Here's what we know so far:

Before and after

As The Hollywood Reporter writes, Selective Outrage is going to be preceded with a 9:30 p.m. ET The Show Before the Show that'll be hosted by The Daily Show's Ronny Chieng, Arsenio Hall, Leslie Jones, and Deon Cole, live from The World Famous Comedy Store on the Sunset Strip. That half hour segment will include live commentary from the likes of Cedric the Entertainer, Ice-T, Kevin Hart, Wanda Sykes.

The actual special airs at 10 p.m. ET, and will be followed by The Show After the Show with David Spade and Dana Carvey emceeing a talk show afterparty featuring J.B. Smoove and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

Netflix says the main event will be available to view after the live showings on March 4, but the pre-show and post-show will not.

What's he gonna say?

If you don't want to get spoiled for the actual material, you should probably stop right here. But since the lead-up to this special was Rock's widely publicized Ego Death World Tour, lots of audiences are already privy to the jokes we'll probably see tonight.

Outkick has some of the jokes on its site, but impressively, Vanity Fair has pretty much everything Rock has said about The Slap on record.

What else will Rock talk about? The Wall Street Journal says The Slap is only a small portion of the material Rock's been doing. Other bits include jokes about the term "victim" and the dating habits of women at different ages.
