Drake debuted his latest purchase—Tupac Shakur's crown ring— on his Instagram stories last night. The sought-after piece was sold at a Sotheby's auction in New York city this week for $1 million but the buyer wasn't revealed.
The ring was worn by Tupac Shakur at his last public outing on September 4, 1996 at the MTV Music Video Awards. Shakur was shot three days later.
Predicted to sell for $200K to $300K, the ring was inspired by Niccolo Machiavelli. Hence the name of Tupac’s posthumous album, Makavelli.

Created by New York jewelers, the ring, according to the Daily News, is anchored by a cabochon ruby and includes two pave-cut diamonds. Holding all of this together is a gold band with diamonds with an engraving “Pac and Dada 1996”. At the time of his passing Tupac was dating Quincy Jones' daughter Kidada Jones, who had many skills and was a muse for Tommy Hilfiger.
This is not the first time Drake has purchased marquee jewelry from other rappers. He also purchased $3 million worth of key pieces from Pharrell’s JUPITER auction that were prevalent during Pharrell’s Skateboard P phase. The Toronto rapper then wore the jewelry in his video "Jumbotron S**t Poppin".

We hope that was just bar chat because those pieces were classic.
