How Dare You Eject 40 Water aka Fonzarelli aka Charlie Hustle aka E-40 From an NBA Playoff Game

On Saturday, rapper E-40 got booted from his courtside seats at an NBA playoff contest between his hometown Golden State Warriors and the Sacramento Kings. E-40 said he was being heckled by someone at the game, which took place in Sacramento, and was ejected after he turned around to address the heckler, who was apparently a white woman.

E-40 issued a statement on Twitter saying he was the victim of racial bias by Kings security. "Security saw a disagreement between a Black man and a white woman and immediately assumed I was at fault," he wrote. "I was absolutely humiliated by the Kings' security team and I'm calling on the franchise to investigate the appalling conduct that transpired.”

Fans and pundits rallied around E-40, including Jalen Rose, who posted a video saying E-40 deserves an apology.

Warriors shooting guard Klay Thompson also weighed in with support for E-40.

The Kings said they are investigating the incident, saying in a statement, "The Sacramento Kings take these claims seriously and are investigating the facts and circumstances regarding the situation, as we do anytime an accusation like this is made."

The AP reported that several fans suggested E-40 was told to sit down because he was blocking the view of the game for other spectators and was ejected after warnings for "excessive standing." Excuse me?

I'm sorry, but my take is this: E-40 is a whole damn legend. That's Mr. Flamboyant. The Mail Man. The Ballatician. The godfather of hyphy. He's probably invented more lingo than you could contain in a YA novel. He's given us more than 30 studio albums, his own line of wines, and rap's greatest punchline about the Statue of Liberty. You don't tell him when to go; he tells you when to go. If E-40 is standing too much, you'd better damn deal with it.
