Black-ish and Grown-ish star Deon Cole is old. We’re talking old enough for an AARP membership old. Being an old head comes with its challenges, like your knees not quite working how they used to and being generally bewildered with the world around you—especially when it comes to dating.
Cole has this and a lot more in mind in his upcoming Netflix comedy special Charleen’s Boy, which debuts on the streaming platform on Nov. 15. Check out the teaser trailer below, exclusively premiered by LEVEL.
Directed by Ryan Polito and filmed at The Kings Theatre in Brooklyn, N.Y., Charleen’s Boy is Cole’s second hour-long special following 2019’s Cole Hearted. The special is dedicated to the comedian’s late mother, Charleen Cole. It's just the latest entry in a canon that includes two Emmy nominations as a writer for Conan O'Brien, an appearance in the 2021 streaming blockbuster The Harder They Fall, and next year's Kenya Barris production You People, which will also star Eddie Murphy, Jonah Hill, and Lauren London.
If you peep Cole’s fit, you’ll see he’s wearing green leather pants. And don’t those are actually Burnished Lime or whatever me—my name ain’t Pantone. We all know that when a Black comedian dons the leather fit, they mean big business. So, in the old head Deon Cole’s own words, I think we got a hit on our hands and we can’t afford to miss out on that at all.
